My journey to becoming a graphic designer and illustrator began with a deep love for art that I’ve had since childhood. Growing up, I was always drawn to creative expression, which led me to take as many art classes as I could in high school. One of the pivotal moments in my journey was joining the yearbook class, where I discovered my passion for graphic design. This experience sparked a love for visual storytelling and set me on the path toward pursuing a career in design. To further develop my skills, I attended Missouri State University, where I earned a dual bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. Throughout my education, I was exposed to a wide range of courses that enriched my understanding of the field and expanded my artistic capabilities. In addition to graphic design and illustration, I explored various mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture (working with metal and wood), and even web design. I’ve always had a thirst for inspiration and a passion for learning new techniques, constantly seeking to grow and refine my craft. My journey thus far has been one of creativity, exploration, and a dedication to bringing ideas to life through design.
My design process begins with gathering inspiration, which can come from a variety of sources—whether it’s a personal project or a client brief. I always start with thorough research to ensure that I’m developing the concept as accurately as possible. This could involve exploring visual references, reading articles, or drawing inspiration from the work of other artists. Once I have a solid foundation, I focus on defining the mood, color palette, and overall concept of the design. I then move into sketching, experimenting with different ideas to refine the composition and explore the values I want to highlight. From there, I begin developing the concept on the chosen medium—whether digital or traditional—allowing the piece to evolve through multiple rounds of critique. This iterative process gives me the opportunity to step back, assess the work, and ensure it’s progressing in the right direction while considering outside feedback. Finally, once I have a refined rough composition, I make the necessary adjustments, finalize the details, and prepare the files for production. Throughout my process, I strive to balance creativity, precision, and collaboration to bring each project to life in the most effective way possible.
